Psychiatric Services
PCS offers all referrals the opportunity to have a psychiatric evaluation performed. This includes a review of the chief complaint, history of the chief complaint, and a review of the major psychiatric syndromes. Family psychiatric history is reviewed followed by a detailed past personal and developmental history. The medical history is reviewed, including allergies, surgeries, fractures, head trauma, and history of abuse – physical, emotional, and sexual. Current medical problems are reviewed followed by the current medications the patient is taking. Mental Status Examination is part of this intake leading to a final diagnosis on the five Axis codes along with recommendations for treatment. The patient is provided an opportunity to discuss psychiatric medications and monitoring the medications is available. The psychiatric component is an integral part of the treatment program offered at PCS.
