Individual Therapy
At PCS, individual therapy places an emphasis on the individual system. You can learn more about how the “self develops” and what it means to “be real” in Dr. Brian Case’s article, Unconditional Lovability. Another theory and treatment model we have used since 1987 was developed by Marilyn Murray, M.A., the Scindo Syndrome. It has proved effective in dealing with childhood trauma, abuse and deprivation, for addictions, and in both individual and couple counseling. In it she describes the concepts of the original feeling child (OFC), the sobbing hurting child (SHC), and the controlling child (CC). Through psycho-education and experiential techniques the client is helped to resolve past traumas. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques, as well as Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, are also utilized.
"I feel that hope for healing
is greater today than ever before. I endeavor to enable our clients to experience
maturity in recovery as they are restored to the person they were created
to be. They learn how to balance acknowledgment of their pain along with
learning specific skills which enable them to become healthy, responsible
feeling adults."
