About PCS

Psychological Counseling Services, Ltd. (PCS) is a group practice specializing in intensive outpatient therapy. We are experts in relationship problems, marriage and family issues, compulsivity, depression, codependence, anxiety, eating disorders, and trauma resolution. In addition, we specialize in providing help for sex therapy and sexual addiction; issues often rooted in childhood trauma stemming from deprivation or abuse (physical, emotional, or sexual). Consequently, all of our therapists are trained to deal with family of origin issues. In addition to the intensive outpatient program, Intensive Steps to Health and Wholeness, PCS provides regular outpatient psychotherapy services for most mental health concerns.

Located in beautiful Scottsdale, Arizona, Psychological Counseling Services (PCS) is staffed by a team of highly trained and nationally recognized mental health professionals. Our team concept delivers a powerful balance of compassion, support, and challenge that is action oriented and results focused. Furthermore, each patient’s treatment is personalized and progress continuously monitored. This commitment to individualized treatment, the diversity of professional skills, and the integration of a systems approach to health and healing allows PCS to maximize patient growth.

PCS History

Psychological Counseling Services, under the direction of Ralph H. Earle, Ph.D., is in its 30th year of providing psychological services to an international community. Beginning in December of 1973, Dr. Earle founded PCS, opening an office in an OB/GYN practice in Scottsdale. Within a few years, Dr. Earle established a group private practice of eight psychologists and built the current facility. Now in its 30th year, PCS has assembled an outstanding team of 17 professionals that include licensed psychologists, masters level therapists, psychiatric services, and a talented front office staff. In addition, under the supervision of Marcus Earle, Ph.D., PCS serves as a rich training environment for masters and doctoral level students.

From its inception, PCS used a multi-disciplinary approach in order to individualize treatment and integrate the skills and styles of highly trained, nationally recognized health professionals. A pioneer in intensive outpatient therapy, PCS has long been considered the option for difficult cases. The current Intensives model evolved in 1996 through the integration of approaches utilized by Dr. Ralph Earle and Marilyn Murray. This comprehensive approach to treatment, which includes psycho-education, groups, individual, couples, and family therapy sessions, has proven to be an effective recovery strategy.

While health is impacted by our emotional, physical and intellectual well-being, PCS has historically emphasized spiritual health as a key component of recovery. We believe each person comes with his/her own unique set of beliefs about the existence or non-existence of God and strive to help clients integrate those beliefs into their personal and relational lives.

Institute for professional Wellness

Dr. Ralph Earle is a national authority on sexual addiction with over 30 years experience working with sexual issues. Consequently, although the PCS team provides treatment for a broad range of psychological disorders and family/relational issues, the practice has developed a unique niche and international recognition in the treatment of sexual compulsivity. The Intensives Model -- Steps to Health and Wholeness has proven to be especially effective in identifying the negative core beliefs and family of origin issues that interfere with long-term recovery.

The treatment of clergy and missionary personnel is another distinctive of the PCS legacy. As an ordained minister, Dr. Earle founded the New Hope Educational Foundation in order to provide healing and restoration to religious leaders and their families. Maintaining its 30-year heritage as an innovative treatment provider, PCS launched the Institute for professional Wellness (IPW) in 2003. Jointly sponsored by The Center for professional Health, Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, IPW offers continuing education for medical professionals in appropriate boundaries.
