Referring clinicians and their patients receive an enormous benefit by utilizing intensives. Unlike other intensive outpatient programs, Psychological Counseling Services, Ltd. has developed a systems approach that concentrates on the individual and his/her specific needs. In addition, individuals are not lost in a group only approach. Trauma resolution is a primary focus and relationship therapy is promoted whenever possible. The intensive program allows patients to benefit from psycho-education and to move beyond in to a deeper, more meaningful life-changing process.

Can I stay involved?

We at Psychological Counseling Services, Ltd. encourage the primary therapist to be as involved as he or she wishes. This may include spending a day to a week with your client as a co-therapist or participating by telephone or in person during their stay.

How do I make a referral?

How is an intensive arranged?

Intensives are arranged by taking into consideration the patient’s problem definition and then orchestrating the treatment team that is best trained to address these issues. Our intensive coordinator then schedules times on each therapist’s calendar to create a high level of therapeutic involvement every day. Most intensives can be scheduled within two weeks from the time of referral.

How does this intensive program differ from other outpatient programs?
 
We believe most other outpatient intensive programs function on an evening basis or do most of the work in a group format. Although there is an emphasis on psycho-education, the majority of the treatment at PCS is individual or couple therapy.
